1. What Are Cookies and Browser Storage?
Cookies are small text files your browser keeps and sends to the website with each request. "Local storage" and "session storage" keep data on your device that the website's pages read, and are not sent to the server. This policy explains everything we keep in your browser, why, and for how long.
This policy should be read together with the Privacy Policy.
2. Our Principles
- We use cookies that are necessary to run and protect the website, and functional cookies that only remember your choices.
- We use no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies and no visitor analytics tools.
- We do not share the content of our cookies with any advertising party.
- For this reason we do not show a cookie consent banner. If we add any tracking or advertising cookie in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before enabling it.
3. Necessary Cookies
| Name | Purpose | When set | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__Host-sfr | Session: protects forms against forged requests and keeps you signed in if you sign in. Not readable by page scripts (HttpOnly). | When visiting the website's pages | Until the browser is closed; expires on the server two hours after the last activity |
sfr_push | Notification device key: identifies your browser to send and manage the notifications you requested. Not readable by page scripts (HttpOnly). | Only when you enable push notifications | 400 days; deleted when you turn notifications off |
__Host-sfr_preview | Pre-launch preview: for the website operator only, never set for visitors. | When opening the secret preview link | 30 days |
4. Functional Cookies
| Name | Purpose | When set | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
tz | Time zone: to show match times in your time zone. | Automatically on your first visit from your device's time zone, or when saving your account settings | One year |
theme | Theme: light or dark mode. | When you change the theme, or when saving your account settings | One year |
lang | Language: to open the website in your preferred language. | When saving your account settings | One year |
5. Local Browser Storage
It stays on your device and is not sent to the server, and it remains until you clear it from your browser unless another duration is stated:
| Key | Purpose |
|---|---|
sfr.collapsed | Competitions whose lists you collapsed on the matches page. |
sfr.sound | Goal alert sound on or off. |
sfr.watch | Live matches whose pages you opened, to alert you of their goals while you are on another page of the website. Saved automatically when you open a live match page; each entry is removed after three hours or when the match ends. |
sfr.req | Competition requests you sent as a visitor, to show you their status. |
sfr:lineup-view | The line-up view you chose (pitch or list). |
sfr-push | That push notifications are enabled in this browser. |
sfr-nf | Showing or hiding the name correction tools, for moderators only. |
We use "session storage" (cleared when the tab is closed) for two things: tz-reloaded prevents reloading the page more than once when setting the time zone, and sfr-push-asked avoids asking you about notifications again in the same session.
6. Third-Party Cookies and Storage
- Google reCAPTCHA: loaded only on the sign-up page and the two visitor competition request pages, to verify that the user is not an automated program. Google may store cookies or data in your browser according to its own privacy policy.
- Google Firebase: only when you enable push notifications, a background service worker is registered in your browser to receive notifications, and the Firebase library keeps small IndexedDB databases in your browser containing the installation identifier and the notification token.
- Cloudflare: processes requests to protect and speed up the website, and may set necessary security cookies when needed to distinguish visitors from automated programs. We use no Cloudflare analytics or tracking feature.
7. Controlling Cookies
- You can delete or block cookies and local storage from your browser settings.
- Blocking necessary cookies prevents signing in and submitting forms. Deleting functional cookies resets the settings to their defaults.
- To turn off notifications and delete their device key, use the notification settings page.
8. Changes to This Policy and Contact
We update this policy when we add any cookie or change its purpose; the version number and effective date appear at the top of the page. For any question, write to us at [email protected].
